JOHN BAIER, OWNER AND PRINCIPAL BROKER
John Baier discovered his love of boating while growing up in Long Island, New York. After moving to California during the 1980s he was a professional yacht broker, manager and vice-president of Rex Yacht Sales, a Cheoy Lee Authorized Dealer, in Sausalito and Newport Beach. John traveled to Hong Kong frequently as he sold, commissioned and delivered numerous new Cheoy Lee Yachts to the West Coast for clients. In 1991, John started his own brokerage, Oceanic Yacht Sales, and became the Authorized Dealer for Grand Banks Yachts making him one of the oldest GB dealerships in the world today. Oceanic has completed well over 1000 transactions in new boat and brokerage boat sales while remaining in the same sales location at Clipper Yacht Harbor, Sausalito, for over 20 years. John is known and respected throughout the boating industry in this country, for his knowledge, honesty and professionalism.
Rick Peterson found his love of boating while growing up in the Midwest. In the late 1970s he founded Peterson Design, a furniture and product design business which he then sold in 1995 before moving to California. There Rick worked for a number of Silicon Valley product development firms primarily in the capacity of marketing and management. In 2005, Rick decided to pursue his true passion and became a sales person at Ballena Bay Yachts selling Nordic Tugs. In 2006 he became a Professional Yacht Broker when he moved to Orange Coast Yachts, then the Authorized Dealer for Ocean Alexander. Rick proved to be not only an outstanding sales person but he also managed the firm's East Bay office until moving to Oceanic Yacht Sales. Rick's strong management and marketing background as well as dedication to superior customer service can give Oceanic's clients confidence that the purchase and/or sale of their yacht will result in success.
Lloyd "Skip" Johnson
Lloyd "Skip" Johnson is a native of Minneapolis, MN where he spent summers cruising the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers as well as Lake Minnetonka on his family's Falls Flyer, Garwood and Chris Crafts. Skip moved to the Bay area in 1976 and following a successful career with Roberts-Obayashi Corp., he obtained his USCG Masters license and then pursued his love of the water in yacht sales.
Alex grew up in the UK where his love for sailing started at the age of eight. With a strong drive of becoming a professional sailor, Alex completed the trials for the UK Yacht Racing Academy and was accepted in 2007.
Following his professional dream, Alex joined North Sails UK and then North Sails New Zealand where he sailed 18ft skiffs and a mix of other keel boats.
Alex was selected by Team New Zealand for the 34th America's Cup Challenge in San Francisco as Sailmaker and boat set-up crew. He was then recruited by Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing as an Under 30 Sailor and Sailmaker in their successful campaign to win the Volvo Ocean Race in 2014.
Since then, Alex has competed in the Extreme Sailing Series, TP52 Circuit, Moth World’s, and many other high-end race boat campaigns. Alex continues to race for many private and commercial teams in the Bay Area and around the world.
With extensive inshore and offshore experience, Alex brings a wealth of knowledge in boat construction, rigging, electrical systems and marine engines.

Malcolm Morgan is a career marine technician and systems expert with over 40 years experience in marine electrical and mechanical systems. He grew up sailing on Monterey Bay, California, starting at the age of 10. His family owned the Monterey Bay Yacht Center where Malcolm helped run the charter fleet, teach sailing lessons, and outfitted boats for extended cruising. Eventually Malcolm joined a new startup company, Spectra, in Sausalito, designing the first automated control system for marine water-makers.
In 1999, he crewed as engineer and navigator on a classic 65ft yawl in the Mediterranean. He has raced on a 125ft schooner in the Mallorca Cup, worked on the shore support team for two America’s Cup campaigns and has been a regular crew member on an 85ft classic wooden yawl as well as a 65ft schooner on San Francisco Bay in the Schooner Cup, Leukemia Cup, and Master Mariners races.
His industry affiliations include ABYC, NFPA, as well as NAMS and SAMS surveyor associations. His client list includes nearly every harbor and boatyard in the SF Bay Area, the US Coast Guard, and many State and Federal agencies.

Bill is a third generation sailor. He grew up in Chicago and began boating as a youth on Lake Michigan where he learned to sail on a Laser. In his teenage years he began racing with his father, and crewed for friends in weekend regattas, including Chicago Mackinac races. He also enjoyed fishing and cruising along the shores of Lake Michigan on his family’s power boat.
Bill moved to the Bay Area in 1985 and began crewing out of the RYC on Leading Lady. He purchased his own sailboat in 1992. He is an active member of the South Beach Yacht Club, where he enjoys racing in the club’s Friday Night Race Series.
Bill initially performed sailboat sea trials before moving into sales. He has been a licensed yacht and ship sales person in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past six years.

Andy Deems discovered his love of boating growing up near the beaches of Southern California and then living for decades in Marin County. Following a long career in hospital and healthcare management, Andy decided to turn his love of yachting into a second act, becoming a professional yacht sales person in 2016. He now enthusiastically joins Oceanic’s staff in Sausalito. You can trust that Andy’s strong executive background, sense of integrity and dedication to customer service will promise both buyers and sellers a very successful and enjoyable relationship with Oceanic.
