This very rare example of the popular 28 Tournament Express has nearly every upgrade and factory option available. The Alaska rear cabin enclosure was only fitted to a few fortunate vessels at the factory. This was one of the last Albin 28's built by the original builders. Production ended in 2006 and the factory was moved and subsequent models had reports of quality control issues. As such, the 2006 models are the most sought after versions.

The optional Mercury high thrust 4 stroke kicker motor with electric tilt mount, electric start, remote controls, and autopilot allows a 2 ~7mph trolling speed, plus control from the cockpit while fishing, and can be used as an emergency ‘get home’ backup engine.

The pilothouse features the optional center opening vent window with Heavy Duty stainless steel hardware. Look at the pictures, the window frames and all of the hardware on the vessel is in perfect condition with no signs of corrosion.

There are electric hatch lifts for the main engine and cockpit hatches. The ingenious design allows for the same area under the cockpit sole to serve two functions: both as a large fish / storage locker, and as easy access to the batteries and rear of the engine.

The cockpit features a total of (3) fish lockers with electric pumpout system, to hold large gamefish or cruising gear.

There is also a transom 32 gallon livewell with recirc pump to keep bait alive, which can also double as a giant cooler during party mode. And there is another large storage locker / fish hold on the transom to store large bulky items.

For ease of boarding there is the optional transom boarding door and fiberglass swim platform; which can be used for landing that monster fish, or for older guests or small children so they don't have to climb over the sides of the cockpit.

For swimming or diving, there is the optional stainless steel folding boarding ladder integrated into the swim platform, another brilliant design touch.

To port and starboard in the cockpit there are the optional side storage pods for fishing rods, boathooks, etc. At the forward corners of the cockpit there are (2) optional swivel chairs on removable pedestals, both in excellent conditions with no signs of wear or UV damage.

The Offshore Fishing Package includes a RayMarine C120 color chartplotter with integrated depthsounder, bronze thru hull transducer, plus there is a backup Humminbird color fishfinder so you can watch two depth ranges at the same time without having to toggle or split screens. There is also the RayMarine 24 mile color radar, and a digital KVH compass to guide you home. Both engines are equipped with digital autopilots for easy cruising, and the Garmin pilot for the kicker motor has a wireless remote for use from the cockpit while fishing.

While traveling there is a HeaterCraft heater / defroster system, that runs off of the main engine, and there is a Wallas stove / diesel cabin heater to heat the cabin while moored or anchored.

If you need to leave the boat unattended, there is a 150W solar panel with digital regulator to keep the batteries charged. There are (4) Concorde AGM house / service batteries, plus (1) dedicated Gp27 engine starting battery, with a 40A 2 bank shore power battery charger

The Imtra 12V electric windlass with helm and bow controls makes it easy to raise or lower the anchor from either the bow, or from inside the pilothouse.

One of the many unique features of Northern Star is the custom super heavy duty mooring ring on the bow that has custom made reinforcing plates connected to the mounting bolts for the windlass. This allows for safe secure anchoring, towing, or mooring in any conditions.

The galley is fitted with a Xantrex inverter / charger with remote control panel to power the AC outlets and microwave while away from shore power.

The quality of these vessels is evident in the attention to detail like the (2) 12V circuit breaker panels with room for expansion, each circuit has it's own breaker, instead of cheaper boats where they cluster several items onto few breakers, which leads to nuisance tripping and overloads.

For cruising comfort there is the hot and cold pressure water system with optional outdoor cockpit shower. The galley features a 6 cu/ft Isotherm AC/DC refrigerator with travel lock; and for cooking there is the optional folding side table for extra counter space.

Every door, locker, and drawer on board features travel locks to keep contents secure in rough seas. It's extra touches like these that separate average boats from true offshore cruising vessels.

The gleaming clean head features a Vacuflush electric toilet with holding tank, tank monitor system, and electric macerator for offshore holding tank pumpout.  The convenient pullout faucet / shower in the sink sink allows a quick shower after a long day on the water.

Northern Star even features a custom matching cherry wood towel rack on the inside of the head door.

There is a Sony stereo with (4) 2 way coaxial speakers.

The super clean engine room is fitted with a dripless shaft seal with water injection to keep the bilges clean and dry. The legendary Yanmar 315Hp turbo diesel engine has almost no visible rust, corrosion, leaks, or known issues.

Outside on the hardtop there are (2) triple rodholder / rocket launchers to hold fishing rods, and the boat is prewired for (2) electric downriggers or crab pot pullers.

From the factory, these boats are designed for safety offshore and ease of movement onboard. Notice the careful placement of the heavy duty hand rails on the cabin sides and hardtop for safe, easy access to side decks.

The clever design of the interior sleeps 4 adults in two double berths, which is almost never seen in a vessel of this size. The forward table drops down to convert to large double bunk, and the aft cabin is easy to access even while the boat is in rough seas.

The condition of the interior is remarkable for a vessel of this age; all of the soft goods and cushions appear in like new condition.

The three cockpit bolsters were recently replaced. All of the gel coat appears in great condition, with no visible collision damage.

Super Heavy Duty triple axle trailer at extra cost:

2008 Pacific brand, galvanized, has surge disc brakes on 2 of the 3 axles

Always stored indoors, never put in water, excellent condition, very low miles (less than 2,000 estimated)

Estimated trailer replacement value $20,000 in 2022

Overall “Northern Star” is in excellent condition and is loaded with options to handle any kind of cruising, fishing, or adventuring. These are very capable vessels for coastal and inshore waters and they have legendary resale value when properly maintained.
